Bio’s are like soft porn-
Boring but, apparently, necessary.

I really want my bio to be EXHILIRATING!
But, honestly, have you ever seen a soft porn movie that was exhilarating?

I didn’t think so.

Let’s get down to business.

It’s difficult to condense what I do down to one simple page.

I mean, how can I really explain a half-dressed burlesque dancer swinging herself across the stage while throwing confetti and feathers out at the crowd dancing to my sextet playing behind her?  And how can I truly convey the feeling in a room when I play a soft song, or the feeling I get when a girl shows me the lyrics to that soft song tattooed on her back? Or when someone tells that they used one of my songs as the first dance at their wedding?

It’s hard.
Luckily, some people have already written about it for me:

“Full of bawdy horns and lusty percussion, Jim Bianco's [music] is something of a naughty musical.....”
—BILLBOARD MAGAZINE

“....dancers from as far away as Paris have taken a shine to Bianco's music”
—LA TIMES

“Songs like 'Goodness Gracious' are the sort that could turn any girl into a Rock of Love stripper.”
—LOS ANGELES CITY BEAT

“......Bianco has catapulted himself onto a level of eclectic songcraft on par with Elvis Costello and Tom Waits."”
—LA WEEKLY

“Witty and thoughtful songs about love, stalking, and favorable winds blowing up skirts”
—BOSTON GLOBE

Traditionally, Bio's seem to be good places to brag about one's achievements.
That's Easy! Watch this!

My songs have found there way into movies and Television shows- From HBO’s hit series TRUE BLOOD, or indie hit movies like Waitress, to networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, A&E, Bravo and MTV, I’ve been lucky to have my fan base grow through the years without needing to leave my living room.

But I left my living room anyway and toured with some fantastic artists- Squeeze, Ingrid Michaelson, Joshua Radin, Imogen Heap, Shelby Lynne, Sarah Bareilles, Josh Ritter, Concrete Blonde, Loudon Wainwright III and many more.

It’s been a great ride so far, I’ve had some amazing opportunities- playing Mountain Stage, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and  KCRW’s ‘Morning Becomes Eclectic’ .

See, bragging is easy.

But I would think that the hardest part about writing a bio is the ending.
I mean, do you remember the ending to any soft porn movies?

Me neither.

Sincerely,
Jim Bianco
